Background of the Study

Supply chain integration (SCI) refers to the alignment and coordination of a company’s internal processes with its external partners to streamline the flow of goods, services, and information. Effective integration of the supply chain has been shown to significantly impact service delivery, particularly in industries where customer expectations for timely and efficient service are high. In the banking industry, where First Bank Nigeria Plc operates, service delivery is crucial to maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. Supply chain integration allows banks to synchronize their internal operations—such as procurement, logistics, and information flow—with external suppliers and partners, enhancing overall efficiency and service quality.

In Bauchi State, where First Bank operates several branches, the integration of supply chain processes plays a critical role in ensuring the timely availability of resources such as cash, security services, and IT support. Given the growing competition in Nigeria’s banking sector, it has become increasingly important for banks like First Bank to adopt effective supply chain integration practices to remain competitive and responsive to customer needs. However, factors such as poor infrastructure, inconsistent power supply, and logistical challenges in remote regions like Bauchi State may affect the extent to which SCI can be successfully implemented.

This study aims to explore the impact of supply chain integration on service delivery in First Bank Nigeria Plc in Bauchi State, focusing on how well-integrated supply chain processes can improve customer service quality and operational efficiency.

Statement of the Problem

While First Bank Nigeria Plc has made strides in improving its internal operations and integrating various supply chain functions, there is a lack of empirical research on the specific effect of supply chain integration on service delivery in Bauchi State. The challenges posed by regional infrastructure and logistical constraints may limit the potential benefits of supply chain integration in this area. Therefore, it is important to evaluate how effectively these integration efforts translate into improved service delivery and customer satisfaction.
